This is a high resolution, scale model of the island of Ireland showing its mountains, lakes and coastline in all its stunning beauty.
Pieces such as this can be commissioned as a full island model, or for a smaller custom area. They are a beautiful way to illustrate many things, from simply enjoying the landscape to deeply exploring our relationship to place & identity.
Using open sourced data from satellite imagery, a series of digital meshes are carefully scaled and aligned before cutting the model out of solid material. It is then sanded, primed, painted and framed by hand.

Full Island Models
Each piece starts with a blank of solid material pressed together. Once the data is prepared and the model cut out, careful attention is paid to the cleaning and finishing process.
Full-Island pieces and larger commissions vary with size, framing, and lighting. Get in touch for options.
Everything is made in my workshop in Roundwood, Co Wicklow before being delivered, packaged and shipped.
Custom Area Models
Custom Models can be created to cover any specific area of Ireland, or indeed the world.
Material and finishes include solid wood, Oak veneer plywood, acrylic base and paint.
Lighting options are also available on request.
